The Natural World as Spectacle - Hugh Pearson

Hugh Pearson is a program producer with the BBC’s natural History Film Unit.  He will discuss the complexities of making programs that bring the vast panoramas of the biosphere into our living rooms. He will examine the many choices program makers are faced with and talk about the financial drivers that exert powerful pressures on the nature and content of these programs.



He has worked on many programs including Blue Planet and Nature Great Events. He is currently working on a series devoted to the wildlife of the African continent.

Tristram Hunt: "The Frock-Coated Communist"

BBC historian Tristram Hunt will be visiting the University of Plymouth on the 16th March to give insite to his new title: "The Frock-coated Communist" a biography of the life of Freidrich Engels, co-writer of the Communist Manifesto and forgotten father of Marxism. His detailed account sheds light upon the exceptional, and now almost forgotten,  life of one of the most influencial philosophers of modern history.
Pre-release copies of the books are available in store now, and will be on sale at the event (priced at £10.99), where Tristram will kindly be signing and dedicating copies.

He has received EMMY, BAFTA and RTS awards for his work and was awarded the OBE in 2010 for services to wildlife photography and conservation. His autobiography, Wildlife, was a Sunday Times top ten bestseller.
